3 Assemblies for Mental Health Education

Written by Hannah Terry | Mon, Apr 22, 2024

Our students need mental health education now more than ever, but how do we best go about implementing it in our schools? Fostering a prosperous learning environment for your students includes many facets, but supporting their mental health education is a critical part. Mental wellness affects all of our classrooms every day. Mobile Ed offers three assemblies that will encourage your students as they learn tools to deal with stress and complex emotions.

Mental Health in Our Schools

The reality is that all of our students are facing mental health challenges in different ways, and for many, it's hard to understand, let alone reach out for help. 1 in 6 youth ages 6-17 will experience a mental health condition, and 50% of all conditions begin by the age of 14. ADHD, behavior problems, anxiety, and depression are disorders most commonly diagnosed in children.

Untreated mental illness has been shown to lead to higher school dropout rates, unemployment, substance use, and arrests. The good news is that the earlier the treatment can be provided, the better the outcomes are for that individual. We as educators are in a unique position to recognize a need for a student and support students as we spend many hours a week with our students.

Elementary and middle school students are at a critical age to learn social and emotional skills that will help them inside and outside school. Mobile Ed has several assemblies designed to help educators provide knowledge and tools that will help students navigate complex situations and emotions.
