Ever since congress enacted the No Child Left Behind rules, and even before that, schools have been under the gun to show improvements in certain key areas of the curriculum. Most notable of these areas are Reading, Writing and Mathematics. Some schools have discontinued using school assemblies and school assembly programs altogether, out of a misguided idea that all assemblies are little more than an unnecessary distraction from time on task. Of course, nothing could be further from the truth.
School assemblies, when chosen wisely, augment the curriculum in a very positive manner, focusing students on areas of study in ways that cannot be accomplished in the classroom, while bringing an excitement about learning. And there are some very good assembly programs available in the very key areas where schools are tested!
Mobile Ed Productions is proud to have very exciting programs that support Reading, Writing, and that most difficult concept to get across in assembly form - Mathematics.
Imathimation is a school assembly which takes math out of the classroom and presents it in various real life situations so that students see for themselves that what they might have considered as dry and boring is actually exciting and useful!
In the area of writing I have spoken before about Young Authors Day and the elegant simplicity of it’s design and yet the extreme effectiveness of its format. Children leave the program WANTING to write! And that desire lasts for weeks during which time teachers can work with that energy to amazing results.
This Fall Mobile Ed has been proud to now introduce our newest program, this time dealing with Reading. Many schools are struggling with reading scores, and in Reading! More Than Words! we address this issue thoroughly in a fast moving 45 minute program. early reviews for the program have been great and we now have some performance photographs presented here for the first time. The performer is David Mitchell, a gentleman from Tennessee possessed of exceptional skill and experience, and a really nice guy to top it off! Dave also performs Imathimation, and is a really marvelous Ben Franklin!
