Black Holes and Science Assemblies

One is about a newly discovered Black Hole apparently so unbelievably ancient that it may hold important clues to the very beginning of the universe (http://www.stumbleupon.com/su/1dVPzk/www.dailygalaxy.com/my_weblog/2011/01/epic-discovery-ancient-light-from-a-massive-black-hole-reveals-unknown-history-of-universe.html). The other article was about the types of matter that feed these ravenous monsters and from where most of it comes (http://www.wired.com/wiredscience/2011/01/black-hole-feeding/).

I find this stuff fascinating. The subject of space and the stars and especially Black Holes is, to me, always a real turn on. I think a lot of people feel the same way, but in particular I know a lot of kids do. Black holes are a little like dinosaurs in that they seem to hold a never-ending fascination for kids.science assemblies dinosaur

Which is why planetariums make for such a great place for kids to visit. I have never met a child who wasn’t excited by the prospect of stepping into a planetarium, and into the stars. Mobile Ed’s Skydome, a mobile planetarium is especially useful for schools as it is portable and can be set up anywhere with a high ceiling inside a school. Inside students are treated to all the benefits of a Digitalis star projector. This portable planetarium can even simulate the working of a black hole which is a particularly exciting moment of the program!science assemblies

So if you are seeking a great science assembly and a school assembly program bound to be a huge hit with the kids at your school we highly recommend Skydome. Who knows, the next great Carl Sagan might be sitting in a classroom in your school, just waiting for someone to introduce him to his future career!
