I just listened to an amazing piece and I want to share it with you. Our kids today are so much more internet savvy than I am. Of course, when I was that age we did not have the internet. When I was a kid we were still writing with quill pens!

But we live in an internet age. The wonders our children will see in their lifetimes are beyond imagination. But the internet, as liberating as it is, is under attack. And the attack comes, not from those who would hurt us, but from those with the very best motives. Internet giants like Google and Facebook, in the interest of trying to serve us better, are actually doing the world a disservice.

Amazing, and a little worrisome is it not? The good news is that those in attendance who rose to their feet to give a standing ovation are themselves representatives of Google and Facebook, among other movers and shakers of the internet world.

How does this relate to the fun little world of school assemblies?

As always, my answer is that we must instill a love of technology and science in our children as those are the fields that are shaping the world they will inherit from us. And the best way to do so is through the excitement found in a science assembly!

Physics is Fun or Forces and Motion or our new assembly The Invisible Wonder are all great ways to motivate children to want to learn more about science and perhaps follow a career into engineering or computer science.
