Library Programs and Library Shows - Encouraging Kids To Read!

But summer lasts a long time. Researchers have confirmed what many teachers already knew. By the end of a typical three month Memorial Day to Labor Day summer, most kids have had time to forget a lot of what they had learned by the end of the previous school year. Teachers typically spend the first month of each school year getting kids back to the point they were at before the summer started.

Libraries are a perfect way to get kids reading over the summer, and not fall so far behind. But how do you get kids to the library during the summer? Or on a weekend? Or on a holiday?library shows and programs

Well the answer, of course is to give them something exciting to draw them in. Give them an event. Give them a Library show!

School assemblies like those offered by Mobile Ed are perfect for providing parents with a great motivator to get kids to want to go to the library. Whether it is summer, a weekend during the year or (and especially) on a holiday during the school year, library programs are a great draw and can entice children in where they will almost certainly then be tempted to look at and take home some of the books. Library traffic can be increased dramatically by the offering of Library shows and entertainment programs.

library showsImagine a library program involving Abraham Lincoln on Presidents Day. Or Martin Luther King on his birthday. What about Ben Franklin, or Thomas Edison or Mark Twain? Then again, what better program for a library than an exciting show that encourages kids to read, such as Reading! More Than Words!? Or, if silence is important, what about a Classical Mime (we cannot promise the audience will be quiet ... they are always laughing!) ?

Here at Mobile Ed we concentrate on scheduling our assembly programs in schools, but when our presenters are “in your neighborhood”, they are almost always also available to visit your local library and perform a library program at night or on the weekend.

Give us a call! We would love to come and do a library show for you! The weather outside is great, but the inside of a library is a magical place kids need to learn to appreciate. Call us! We can help!
