Nothing about state standards or science assemblies today. Being Friday it seems a good time to introduce our latest Mobile Ed Productions School Assembly Dog of the Month!
This month, our August honoree is a famous dog and a heroic dog. With the ten year anniversary of 9-11 coming next month we thought it appropriate that this months Dog be none other than Cairo, a Belgian Malinois who is no ordinary dog. Cairo is a highly trained Navy Seal, and the only dog to take part in the raid that killed Osama Bin Laden.
Seal dogs are trained to perform many valuable functions including sniffing out explosives and discovering hiding humans. They are equipped with a whole array of armor just like their human counterparts, and a battery of high tech equipment. And they are trained to parachute from planes, both in tandem with their trainer, and (over water) solo! Last year, one Seal team dog set a world record for the highest man-dog jump when they jumped (with full suits and oxygen masks for both man and dog) from a plane at more than 30,000 feet!
Earlier this year Cairo got to meet President Obama when he visited with Seal Team 6 and congratulated all the members of the team including Cairo.
So here’s to our School Assembly Dog of the Month for August - Cairo, Unit member of Seal Team 6 and the dog that helped get Osama Bin Laden!
