Did You See Our Feature in the LA Times?

Written by Ryan Thompson | Wed, Dec 5, 2018

Last week, the Los Angeles Times came out and visited our mobile planetarium program at Oak View Elementary School in Huntington Beach, California. The SkyDome Planetarium is our famous portable planetarium that allows students to experience the sun, moon, stars and planets right inside their school! The SkyDome is one of the most immersive ways to teach students about space. With high-quality animations and real-time visuals, this program will give students K-8 an up-close tour of the universe.

The LA Times wrote a very nice article about their experience with the SkyDome program and took some wonderful pictures, which are usually difficult to take inside the dark planetarium. The pictures turned out great, and the article was excellent, truly revealing the goals and the appeal of our assembly program.

In the LA Times piece on the SkyDome, some kids were interviewed and had a few interesting thoughts about our program. Here’s what they had to say:

“It was so cool!” said Anthony, 8. “I loved when we got to see all the moon.”

Danna, 9, said her favorite part was the Sombrero Galaxy, “because it has a funny name."

In the article, Principal Jenna Landero pointed out one of the tremendous values of having an assembly visit their school:

“We told them there would be an event, but it was a surprise.  When they have events to look forward to … it gets them excited and makes them want to come to school.”

We would like to share a big thank you to the Los Angeles Times for doing this very nice write-up on one of our most highly acclaimed and beloved educational experiences! The coverage truly highlighted the impact and popularity of our program, and we are incredibly grateful for the recognition. Thank you to the school as well for allowing us to come and visit their students!
