It was 40 years ago today that our founders, Larry Thompson and Norman Seay, had the idea to bring the field trip to you. It all started with one show, The Amazing World of Light, and from there grew to our present library of over 40 educational assembly programs, including:
- Animals and the Environment, a natural science program showcasing incredible animals
- BOT! The Secret World of Robots, a STEM/STEAM program offering live, hands-on demonstrations of real robots currently in everyday use
- Christmahanukwanzamadan, a multi-cultural celebration of different holidays
- The Earth Dome, an interactive journey around our planet
- The Living Lincoln, a stunningly realistic-looking Abraham Lincoln impersonator teaching about his life
- SkyDome Planetarium, a 45-minute journey through our solar system and galaxy and also our most loved program
- STEAM Museum, hands-on exhibits suitable for students of all ages
- Young Authors Day, in which students are encouraged to write stories that are later performed by our professionally-trained mime

The LA Times wrote a very nice article about their experience with the SkyDome program and took some wonderful pictures, which are usually difficult to take inside the dark planetarium.
