On October 8, 2015, Space Center Houston held an 8-hour event for over 2,000 homeschool students featuring our Kidz Science Safari program.
Kidz Science Safari administrator Will Hatch set up 14 different interactive, hands-on exhibits in addition to two exhibits provided by the Space Center: a planetarium and a robotics activity.
Take a look at all the fun that was had!
Kidz Science Safari features at least 12 interactive STEAM exhibits that can be set up in your school, including:
- Programmable Robots that students can play with through coding
- Bike Generator which enables kids to convert potential energy into electrical energy and light up a tall tower
- Gravity Wall where students create a pathway of twists and turns, later on being able to test their designs using small balls and the force of gravity
- Domino Race, an area where kids set up dominos in patterns, being able to learn engineering, motion and force when pushing them and sending them into crashing
- Giant Microscope with lots of artifacts such as bugs, flowers and feathers to be seen on a large screen
- Dino Dig has them becoming actual archaeologists through digging dinosaur bones, claws and teeth!
Following a brief overview of all the exhibits, students are free to explore everything during the 45-minutes session, involving themselves in practical, hands-on exploration.
As you can tell, our educational programs aren't only for schools. Kidz Science Safari is just one of several programs we have that are a perfect compliment to any special event at a library, museum...or space center! Take a look!
