Mobile Ed Productions has reached it's 35th year, and Geoff Beauchamp has been a part of more than half of it! Starting as a performer in January of 1989, Geoff created Mobile Ed's The Living Lincoln, and is still one of our "Lincoln's" who brings The Living Lincoln into your school each year. Pretty good likeliness huh? 

Well, 2013 is in the history books now, so we thought you might like a quick recap of our top ten school shoes from last year. Here is what we had for you! Not that these are the best shows we have ... all our shows are absolutely awesome! But of all the more than thirty great school programs we offer, these are the shows you, our clients, scheduled the most often! These are the top ten most often scheduled school shows from 2013.

One hundred and fifty years ago today, a tall thin man, weak and dizzy from an as yet undiagnosed case of smallpox, rose from a temporary platform to face a crowd of onlookers beneath a cold and drizzly gray sky. He was there to deliver “a few remarks” in dedication of an as yet unfinished cemetery. The previous speaker was Edward Everett renowned orator and the the main featured attraction that bleak morning.

Today was a pretty momentous day in history. What do you know about what happened on April 4 in past times? If you are like most Americans, the answer is probably not much. Which is sad. I know that many Americans think history is boring. We are so busy rushing headlong into the future, we find little time to think about what is past. But that is not only sad, it is tragic.

To no one's surprise, Steven Spielberg's film Lincoln has gathered a large array of nominations for this year's Academy Awards. Best Film, Best Actor and on and on. The film is brilliant and deserves all the recognition it can get. In particular, the performance of Daniel Day Lewis in the title role deserves supreme accolades.

Seven score and nine years ago, President Abraham Lincoln, weak from an oncoming illness, stepped in front of a large crowd gathered in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania to deliver what would become widely recognized as one of the finest speeches ever uttered in the English language. The words he spoke that day have come down to us one hundred and forty nine years later as The Gettysburg Address. Words that have been studied and faithfully memorized by millions over the decades that follow because of the powerfully elegant simplicity with which they sum up so much of what was great about Abraham Lincoln and, more importantly, what is great about America.

Many of us are today well aware of the angry clash of vision which holds our government in deadlock between proponents of the two major political parties and ideologies. Conservatives and Liberals are more divided by staunch partisan hatred than at almost any time in our nation’s history. It is well to remember, that the last time tensions rose to these heights we embarked on a Civil war which devastated our country and claimed over six hundred thousand American lives.

These days many schools are felling the weight of state mandates testing and are opting to reduce time for assemblies and school shows. Those that do continue using school assemblies often try to focus them exclusively on tested areas such as Math and Reading.
