Just a short note today to remind you that April 4 marks a dark day in American history. Today in 1968, the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. was slain by an assassin in Memphis, Tennessee.

Today is December 19, and it is remarkable for several reasons. On this day in 1154, King Henry II was crowned in England. You remember him, right, and all that nasty business over Sir Thomas Beckett and the Church and all? Ah, but Peter O'Toole made a a wonderful Henry, both in Becket and in The Lion in Winter!
The election of 2012 is now over, and however you voted (I hope you did!), America’s first African American president, Barrack Obama, has been reelected for a second term in the White House. Despite this monumental achievement, there are some who seem totally blasé about this event.
Christmas is almost here and New Years Eve is, of course, right behind. 2011 is almost history and we will soon be trying to remember to write 2012 on all our checks (I will probably remember around February, myself).
