If you take a look at any culture, it doesn't take long to find the signs and tells of astronomy deeply rooted within them. In ancient times, astronomy was studied and used as an essential tool in helping people determine the timing of important agricultural events like spring planting and fall harvests. The orientation of the ancient constellations was used as a clock by which time could be measured. “Indigenous astronomy“ was the astronomy that existed long before the Ancient Greeks and the modern era.

Last week, the Los Angeles Times came out and visited our mobile planetarium program at Oak View Elementary School in Huntington Beach, California. The SkyDome Planetarium is our famous portable planetarium that allows students to experience the sun, moon, stars and planets right inside their school! The SkyDome is one of the most immersive ways to teach students about space. With high-quality animations and real-time visuals, this program will give students K-8 an up-close tour of the universe.
The LA Times wrote a very nice article about their experience with the SkyDome program and took some wonderful pictures, which are usually difficult to take inside the dark planetarium. The pictures turned out great, and the article was excellent, truly revealing the goals and the appeal of our assembly program.
