Hear the tale of one of the greatest American adventures!
Mobile Ed Productions presents Sacagawea, the tale of the amazing young native American woman who bravely transcended physical barriers to guide the Corp of Discovery as Lewis and Clark made their way across the wild plains to the Pacific Northwest.
The presentation is a one-woman production featuring props that aid in understanding the way of life practiced by the original Americans. Maps, stories, interaction, authentic costuming, and the character of Sacagawea herself complete the magic that brings this exciting time to life.
Students will have fun hearing tales of Sacagawea's early life, how she was raised by her Chieftain father, what life was like for young girls among the nomadic plains tribes of her time, and later, how she was kidnapped and sold to a French-Canadian trapper and the sadness of separation from her family.
They will also hear of the Louisiana Purchase and the reasons Thomas Jefferson dispatched Meriwether Lewis and William Clark to venture West and chart a portion of the vast and undiscovered land so newly acquired from France.
With exciting tales of her own personal involvement, Sacagawea will tell the tale of the Corps of Discovery and their many exciting and dangerous exploits as they made their way across a vast and dangerous wilderness.
This presentation will:
• Motivate students to read and find out more about our country's history.
• Inspire them to care more about people and respect their peers and leaders.
• Challenge their minds to reach for excellence.
• Encourage positive behavior and virtuous character traits.
Sacagawea and The Corps of Discovery will excite the minds of students and faculty alike with a dynamic retelling of a little known but fascinating and dramatic chapter in the history of the birth of our nation, and her program closes with an inspirational message sure to motivate at all young people to strive for excellence and not shrink from challenges.
